Idaho Stampede lose; host Rio Grande Valley on Saturday
Utah Jazz contract player Tibor Pleiss had 19 points and 17 rebounds, but Idaho lost to the Grand Rapids Drive 99-96 in an NBA D-League basketball game Friday night at CenturyLink Arena.
Devin Ebanks had 32 points and eight rebounds for Grand Rapids (16-16), which took the lead for good with 5 minutes, 3 seconds left. Dahntay Jones made a free throw after a Da’Shonte Riley flagrant foul to put the Drive ahead 90-89. Ebanks added a jumper and a 3-pointer to push the lead to 95-91 with 2:12 to go.
JJ O’Brien scored 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting to lead Idaho (13-23) in scoring. Pleiss was 8-of-11 from the field.
The Stampede host the Vipers (18-15) at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Earlier Friday, former Stampede guard Bryce Dejean-Jones signed another 10-day NBA contract with New Orleans.
