Brian Scott turns in top Daytona practice speed; qualifying is Thursday
NASCAR Sprint Cup rookie Brian Scott (Boise High, Albertsons/Shore Lodge No. 44 Ford) hit 199.800 mph at Daytona International Speedway, the fastest speed among all drivers during two practice sessions Wednesday and the second-best speed of the week.
Now Scott, who topped out at 193.332 in a qualifying run Sunday, needs to officially race his way into the Daytona 500 lineup in one of two qualifying races Thursday (Can-Am Duels, 5 p.m., FS1). He sits on the sixth row of the first qualifying race, a 60-lap, 150-mile sprint at Daytona in Florida.
The 58th annual Daytona 500 is Sunday (11 a.m., Fox).
