Steelheads newcomer makes a splash in victory
Forward Radoslav Illo scored twice and added an assist on the same day he joined the Steelheads, and Idaho pulled away for a 5-2 victory over Alaska in ECHL hockey action Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena.
Illo, 26, a native of Slovakia, had played 18 games in the ECHL this season — one with the Tulsa Oilers and 17 with the Norfolk Admirals.
Trailing 2-1 in the second period, Idaho (24-19-5) scored four unanswered goals, including two empty-netters to finish off the Aces.
Defenseman Jake Rutt recorded two assists and a goal for Idaho — his first professional goal — and Jack Campbell had 39 saves.
