Idaho-based companies Albertsons and Shore Lodge will continue to sponsor Boise race car driver Brian Scott as he debuts full-time on the NASCAR Sprint Cup series this season, Richard Petty Motorsports announced Wednesday.

Scott, 28, a Boise High graduate, has competed on the NASCAR Xfinity and Truck series since 2007, but he will drive full-time for owner Richard Petty this year, starting with the Daytona 500 on Feb. 21.

Albertsons (Boise) and Shore Lodge (McCall) will adorn the hood of Scott’s No. 44 Ford Fusion for 16 races and have associate placement for the remaining 20 races. Both companies have sponsored Scott in his previous NASCAR seasons.

Scott and Petty unveiled the new car and paint scheme during a media event Wednesday outside the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C.

“I think it is really neat for me to have a legacy of a family with companies like Albertsons and Shore Lodge that are Idaho based and near and dear to my heart and my family and have that tie to a race team that also values family legacy,’’ said Scott, the great grandson of Albertsons founders Joe and Kathryn Albertson.

“We are excited to join these two iconic brands in support of Brian Scott and the No. 44 team. Doing so provides Albertsons with an important opportunity to link our Idaho roots and our banners with the best in motorsports,’’ said Shane Sampson, Albertsons executive vice president, chief marketing and merchandising officer said in a statement.

“This is an exciting opportunity to not only represent McCall, Idaho, and introduce Shore Lodge to new audiences, but to also work with an extraordinary group that can take Brian’s motorsports career to new heights,’’ said Dan Scott, president and general manager of Shore Lodge and Whitetail Club.

Associate sponsors on Scott’s new car include Twisted Tea, GoBowling.com and Goody’s.
