Idaho Steelheads open homestand in defeat
The Florida Everblades took 18 first-period shots to establish control, but it was three goals on 16 attempts in the final 40 minutes that gave the visitors a 4-1 victory over the Idaho Steelheads in an ECHL hockey game Wednesday night at CenturyLink Arena.
Defenseman Zack Kamrass pulled Idaho (6-11-4) within one in the second period with a short-handed goal, but Ethan Werek’s second goal in fewer than 7 minutes and a Maxime St. Cyr empty-netter off a Werek assist provided the final margin for the Eastern Conference leader.
Philippe Desrosiers had 30 saves, including 17 in the first 20 minutes, for Idaho. Daniel Altshuller had 32 saves for Florida (15-7-0).
The teams will play again at 7:10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
