Letter to the sports editor: Boise State football (Nov. 29)

BSU football

Something should be done about the ridiculously terrible referees working BSU games.

The New Mexico and Air Force games are prime examples. Both were lost by a touchdown but should have ended in ties and then overtime.

The first New Mexico touchdown was clearly wrong; the guy stepped out of bounds. Even the TV announcers couldn’t believe the refs gave NM the touchdown anyway.

A short time later, no personal foul was called on NM after its guy tossed our player into a barricade well out of bounds. The TV announcers commented on the lack of that call, and no calls of late hits on our quarterback.

And then the game with Air Force, more idiotic calls like the two fumbles taken away from BSU with one that ended with a touchdown. TV announcers again commented on the calls.

But nothing will change, even when such calls are so blatantly wrong, and video shows it clearly.

The national college football league has never accepted BSU and will always treat BSU as the unwanted little upstart from the wrong side of the tracks. They’re tired of BSU winning and messing up their top favorites. Most are the same teams, year after year, deserved or not.
