Boise State freshman Allie Ostrander and head coach Corey Ihmels were chosen as the West Region women’s athlete of the year and coach of the year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Ostrander won the West Region Championships by 22 seconds and buoyed the women’s team to a second-place finish.

She is the first Boise State cross country athlete to earn the honor since Emma Bates in 2013.

Ihmels was voted coach of the year for the second year in a row.
