Idaho colleges roundup: Northwest Nazarene outlasts College of Idaho in men’s basketball

Detwon Rogers posted a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds and scored the go-ahead basket in overtime as the Northwest Nazarene men defeated the College of Idaho 100-96 on Tuesday at the Johnson Sports Center.

The Crusaders erased a 15-point deficit in the second half, and then dug out of a 90-83 hole in overtime to secure a win in the oldest college basketball rivalry in the state, which dates back to 1933.

The Coyotes’ Joey Nebeker (Melba High/Boise State) led all scorers with 38 points.

The game was an exhibition for NNU, but C of I dropped to 3-1.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Coyotes advanced to the Cascade Conference Tournament semifinals for the 10th year in a row with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-19 sweep of Oregon Tech at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. The No. 25-ranked Yotes (19-10) play at Southern Oregon at 5 p.m. on Friday.

C OF I WOMEN’S SOCCER: Junior forward Jamiece Yazar was named the Cascade Conference offensive player of the year, and Brittany Houghton (first team), Summer Jackson (Mountain View High, first team), Sydney Woods (Meridian High, second team), Hailey Boyd (Boise High, honorable mention) and Aurora Ostolasa (Borah High, honorable mention) made the all-conference team.

C OF I MEN’S SOCCER: The Coyotes’ Mehmed Selimovic (Mountain View High, first team), Joseph Bolin (Payette High, second team), Admir Selimovic (honorable mention) and Joao Cardoso (Bishop Kelly High, honorable mention) were named to the Cascade Conference all-conference team.
