Treasure Valley community sports calendar: Monday, Nov. 2

Baseball/Softball

Winter baseball training: Jan. 4 through Feb. 19 at the Sandlot indoor facility from 6 to 7:15 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for ages 13 and older, and 6 to 7:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for ages 9-12. Baseball and fastpitch instruction: Hitting and pitching lessons for individuals, groups and teams. Call Jeff at 941-3968 (baseball) or Julie at 989-8979 (fastpitch).

Baseball pitching instruction: Lessons available for all ages in group or individual setting from a current college coach and major-league associate scout with 16-plus years experience. Contact Andy at swensonbbco@aol.com or 484-6860.

Basketball

Upward Sports: Registration open for the 2016 league for boys and girls in grades K-6. Register at idahosportsfoundation.org or call Tim at 869-1475.

Bocce

Idaho Bocce Ball Club: League play at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the USBF regulation courts, Ann Morrison. All skill levels welcome and free lessons provided. Cost is $10 per person for an entire season of league membership. Call Jared at 336-2453 or Mike at 376-3171.

Cheerleading

Upward Sports: Registration open for the 2016 league for girls in grades K-6. Register at idahosportsfoundation.org or call Naomi at 869-3126.

Pickleball

Boise Area Pickleball Association: 9 a.m. to noon Monday-Friday at Homecourt YMCA, Meridian. Lessons and equipment available. Contact Terry at 921-0063 or boiseapa11@gmail.com.

Boise Pickleball Club: 9 a.m. to noon Fridays at Fort Boise Community Center. No equipment necessary and all skill levels welcome. Lessons are free. Call 608-7680.

Running/Walking

Turkey Day 5k: 9 a.m. Nov. 26 at Capitol Boulevard and Main Street. Register at turkeyday-5k.com.

Onward Shay! Boise Half and Full Marathon: 7 a.m. Oct. 30, 2016, at Payette Brewing Company. Held in honor of Shay Hirsch, wife of George Hirsch. Shay was brought up in Boise, daughter of Pat and Morley Nelson, founder of Boise’s World Center for Birds of Prey. Early registration for the marathon is $100; half is $65. Go to onwardshay.com.

Tennis

Boise Tennis Coalition: 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Fort Boise.

Track and field

Team Idaho Cross Country: For ages 6-18, Monday through Thursday (depending on age), beginning Monday and continuing through Dec. 17 at three Treasure Valley locations. USATF Snake River Cross Country Championships: For ages 6 and older, 10 a.m. Saturday at Camel’s Back Park. Registration deadline is Nov. 5. Cost is $8; USATF membership required. Contact Jack at 344-5502, ext. 270; jack.ward@ymcatvidaho.org or go to team-idaho.org.
