Steelheads fall behind early in home loss to Utah

The Utah Grizzlies held Idaho scoreless through two periods en route to a 4-1 victory Friday night in an ECHL hockey game at CenturyLink Arena. The Steelheads have lost three in a row.

Daniel Johnston scored the Steelheads’ lone goal in the third period off an assist from Joe Basaraba and Rob Linsmayer to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Utah goaltender Ryan Faragher made 47 saves and Matt Berry scored twice for the Grizzlies, who managed only 15 shots, including Corey Fienhage’s empty-netter to seal the game.

Idaho (2-3-1) and Utah (2-2-1) face off again at 2 p.m. Saturday and 7:05 p.m. Monday at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah.
