Hawks fall to Volcanoes in front of large home crowd
The Boise Hawks’ bullpen betrayed them again Friday in a 7-6 loss to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in front of 4,290 fans, the most at Memorial Stadium since July 4, 2005 (4,651).
Boise (6-10) led 5-4 entering the seventh inning until reliever Cesar Villarroel loaded the bases with a walk, a hit batter and another walk.
Another hit batter tied the game, and then Miguel Gomez ripped a three-run double into left-center field to cap a four-run inning for Salem-Keizer (7-9) and drop the Hawks to 4-5 with a lead after the fifth inning.
