Burley's Ryan Smith hustles down the first-base line on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Minico High School during the Area C Legion B district championship against Idaho Falls.
Over those 26 games, Burley had three individual losing streaks of at least five games. On five occasions, Burley scored two runs or fewer. The Green Sox's only doubleheader sweep came on June 10 against the Grizzlies B of Idaho Falls, a team yet to win a game this summer.
Burley had shown potential throughout the regular season. That includes a 10-run win over Kimberly on June 9 and a 19-14 win over the Minico Storm at the end of the regular season.
That victory is proving a catalyst for Burley in what proved to be a demonstrative and rewarding performance in the district tournament. A 14-4 win over the Hub City Hitmen preceded a six-run win on Friday over Kimberly.
Cache Cooper had four hits over the two games. Austin Hemsley's five RBIs over two games played a key role in Burley racking up 25 runs in two games.

Those two results punched Burley's ticket to the Legion B state tournament, which, on its own, is a great achievement. In 2025, Burley went 0-2 at the district tournament, and the Green Sox's season ended with a record of 13 wins, 14 defeats and a tie.
Burley went and topped that on Saturday with arguably its best performance of the summer against the Idaho Falls Tigers. Hemsley and Payden Robinson each had three hits on Saturday in the district championship. Maddex Larios, Miles Funk, Ryan Smith and Jakoby Bywater each had multiple RBIs.
Burley's 12 hits are the Green Sox's second-most in a single game this season. This Idaho Falls defense and pitching staff allowed just three hits against the Twin Falls Cowboys on Friday, July 10.

Burley's Payden Robinson throws a strike on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Minico High School. Robinson pitched all five innings in the district championship against Idaho Falls.
Robinson's offensive output matched his display on the mound. He yielded six hits and five runs to a team averaging just shy of 12 runs per game in this Legion B season.
That included eight strikeouts in the five-inning contest. Equally impressive, Robinson gave up only two walks, throwing a strike on 58% of his pitches.
Burley's offense took advantage of Idaho Falls' seven errors, four of which came in the top of the fifth inning when Burley scored seven runs on five singles. Despite the absence of extra-base hits in Saturday's game, the Green Sox powered to a 19-5 win over Idaho Falls to claim the district title.
The season does not end here, as Burley will travel to Kuna alongside Idaho Falls and Minico as Area C's representatives in the Legion B state tournament. Play in the state tournament opens on Wednesday, July 15.
