College Fantasy Football Launched Ahead of 2026 Season
College fantasy football has arrived.
Ahead of the 2026 college football regular season, Yahoo! Sports has officially launched a college football version of their famous fantasy football.
College football fans will get to draft teams featuring players like Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith, Texas' Arch Manning, LSU's Sam Leavitt and more.
"It's the Fantasy Football you know and love, now built for the college game. Build deeper rosters with stars from College Football's biggest programs, draft a team offense for the first time, compete in weekly head-to-head matchups, and much more! Drafts open August 3rd and scoring starts with Week 1 on September 3rd," Yahoo! Sports announced on Thursday.
Here's how the lineups will work, according to Yahoo! Sports:
Positions | Number of starters |
Quarterback | 1 |
Running Back | 2 |
Wide Receiver | 2 |
Tight End | 1 |
FLEX | 2 |
D/ST | 1 |
Team Offense | 1 |
The biggest difference is the 'team offense' aspect
Yahoo! Sports will have everyone drafting a "team offense," with major points being awarded.
"The Team Offense position is designed to reward efficient, high-scoring units that minimize mistakes while continuing to play at a high level for 60 minutes each week, including second-stringers and freshmen who are salting games away in the fourth quarter. Every touchdown, field goal and victory earns fantasy points, while turnovers are extremely costly in comparison," they explained.
"Yahoo's Team Offense position rewards elite, mistake-free play and punishes mediocrity. Draft strategy-wise, it makes sense to reach and secure a top-flight, intra-conference juggernaut that plays a relatively easy schedule and has a clear path to 10 wins while averaging 35+ points per game in the process. However, if you're a risk taker and plan to stream during the early season until a sleeper team like Vanderbilt (205.8 fantasy points last season) emerges, then best address other positions early and wait until the later rounds to select your Team Offense."
It'll be fun to play, that's for sure.
Official drafts begin next month.
