Drake Maye Faces Immediate Criticism For Comments On Mike Vrabel
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is facing immediate blowback for his comments on the Mike Vrabel, Dianna Russini scandal.
Vrabel and Russini, who are both married with two children, respectively, have been spotted on multiple occasions hanging out in private locations. The two were spotted at an adults-only resort in Arizona earlier this year, sparking a media frenzy that has resulted in photos from 2020, '21 and '24 being released.
The Patriots head coach has apologized for his behavior, though he has since returned to work.
Maye, who is married, is defending his head coach and his character.
Maye said that it's clear that Vrabel is a "great" person. He doesn't see it impacting the team, either.
"No, I don't. I mean, he's our head coach. I think he's done a great job of talking to us and talking us through it. I'm just looking forward to getting back to work and getting ready," he told the Associated Press.
"I know he's got the right mindset and I know he's a great human being… like I said, I love playing for him."
Maye faces scrutiny for his 'great human being' comment
Vrabel might be a great head coach, and he might have a great relationship with his players.
But does the scandal with Russini, who is also married with two children, show that he's a great human being?
NFL fans have an issue with that phrasing.
"Maye gotta stop supporting a bad person and focus on not stinking in big moments," one NFL fan wrote.
"Bad judgement of character from the QB huh? Jeeesh," one added.
"Is Tiger Woods a great person, too?" one fan added.
"You know he's lying. Great persons don't do that," one shared.
"Oh man. Here come all the people to bash Drake because he said he's a great human being," one fan added.
Maye, of course, shouldn't have to answer for his head coach. It's Vrabel's problem and his alone.
Unfortunately, Maye is being forced to talk about it - and it doesn't seem to be going very well.
