Adam Silver Sends Clear Message About LeBron James Amid Retirement Rumors
One of the biggest storylines as the NBA postseason begins this weekend is what the future holds for 41-year-old LeBron James.
James is currently leading the Los Angeles Lakers into a first-round series against the Houston Rockets without both Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, who are expected to miss most - if not all - of the series due to injuries sustained on April 2.
Set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, there's growing uncertainty about what James will ultimately decide. Reports have suggested he has little interest in a traditional farewell tour - something many all-time greats opt for in their final season.
As it stands, James could retire, return to the Lakers, or test free agency, with teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors often mentioned as potential suitors.
Regardless of what he chooses, James continues to perform at an elite level. And according to NBA commissioner Adam Silver, there's a strong belief that he isn't done just yet.
"I want LeBron to play as long as he absolutely wants to play," Silver said during an appearance on WFAN Sports Radio. "He's still playing at an incredibly high level - it's not like he's just out there… I have every indication that he plans to keep playing."

James can ultimately choose whatever path he wants. The Lakers have made it clear they're interested in bringing him back, and after seeing what L.A. looked like when fully healthy alongside Doncic and Reaves, a return could be appealing.
When all three were on the court, the Lakers were one of the hottest teams in the league over the final two months of the season, climbing as high as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.
Still, if the Lakers hope to make a deep postseason run this year, James will need to turn back the clock starting Saturday night and lead the charge - something he's done time and time again throughout his career.
