Greg Cote’s Poll Dance: What’s an ideal Final Four in college basketball? Vote now
The NCAA Tournament’s women’s Final Four is tonight/Friday, the men’s Final Four is Saturday, and they have something in common -- for better or worse:
Lots of chalk, no Cinderella. High seeds rising, no real surprises.
That’s indisputable in women’s hoops, with all four No. 1 seeds advancing in South Carolina vs. UConn and Texas vs. UCLA.
The men’s side offers a pair of No. 1s in Michigan vs. Arizona. The other semi is No. 2 UConn (a six-time national champ) vs. No. 3 Illinois — the closest we have to a Cindy, although a Big Ten team with seven straight 20-win seasons is nobody’s shock to get this far.
So, what is your ideal Final Four from an interest/watchability vantage? Is it the best teams/highest seeds with four 1s the optimum? Or is it better to have at least one Cinderella -- the genuine surprise/underdog and feelgood story?
(Or are you fine either way as long as Duke isn’t in it?)
Me, I like a heavy dose of bracket-friendly high seeds but with at least one Cindy, too. But this isn’t my poll, it’s yours. So vote now! And remember, as always you may vote as many times as you like or until your fingers ache. Go!
