AC Boise reveals its first jersey. How would you rate the pro soccer club’s kit?
In the run-up to its debut game, Idaho’s first professional soccer club has revealed its name, its colors and its coach.
Now fans know what the on-field uniforms will look like.
AC Boise unveiled its home jerseys Wednesday night at The Egyptian Theatre, showcasing a black shirt with green highlights under the arms and Saint Alphonsus as the primary sponsor.
Fans attending the sold-out event received a jersey and a special-edition scarf. Jerseys will go on sale on the team’s website soon. An adult jersey will cost $110 with a youth jersey at $65, said Brad Stith, CEO and co-founder of Athletic Club Boise.
The jersey features a 3D-club badge on the chest, the team’s stylized peregrine falcon icon patterned throughout the shirt, and an Idaho map at the right hip marks Boise’s location with a star garnet.
“I think the little touches that you see on the kit are the little gemstones that you see within Idaho,” said Manuel Perez, the director of marketing for the River Guard, an independent supporters group.
“You go to Coeur d’Alene, you get a different experience. You go to McCall, you get a different experience. You go down to Boise, it’s a different experience. You go to Caldwell, Nampa, it’s a different experience.
“It’s just all the little pieces that you see within the kit that really does represent us.”
An away jersey will follow as the club’s first game nears in March, and the club will reveal a third kit after its first games, said Jennie Telleria, the owner of Against, a Boise-based creative agency.
She said that because this is AC Boise’s first season, they wanted to keep jerseys rooted closely to the club’s crest.
“We wanted to go with something that was classic and not overdone,” Telleria said. “All of the elements are intentional, like the heat press in the fabric. The lightning pattern is something that just kind of comes to life when you’re moving or when the light hits it in a certain way. We like those subtle elements.
“I can tell you the rest of our kits are going to be quite different. So it’ll be an exciting reveal as the rest of them come out.”
The jersey reveal marks the latest step toward the club’s opening kickoff. AC Boise’s men’s soccer team will start play in March as part of USL League One in the third division of the American soccer pyramid. A women’s club will follow in the fall of 2027.
Both teams will play in front of a renovated grandstand at Expo Idaho, the home of a former horse racing track. AC Boise has sold 5,000 season tickets since they went on sale six weeks ago. The stadium will open with 7,050 seats, with plans to expand to 11,000.
