Idaho connections abound at NCAA track championships. Here’s who and when to watch
The 2025 NCAA outdoor track and field championships run June 11-14 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, and more than a dozen athletes with Idaho ties have qualified.
The Idaho Statesman has compiled a list of those athletes and how to watch them in action.
Athletes are listed in alphabetical order by last name. All times Mountain.
WOMEN’S NATIONAL QUALIFIERS
Hanna Ackermann, Boise State: The sophomore from Bichl, Germany, qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:54.40, which ranks No. 13 out of 24 qualifiers. The steeplechase prelims are scheduled for 5:38 p.m. Thursday, June 12. Television coverage begins at 5 p.m. on ESPN. The finals are at 7:24 p.m. Saturday, June 14, with TV coverage beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
Lexy Halladay-Lowry, BYU: The former Mountain View High standout is the No. 2 overall qualifier in the 3,000 steeplechase, running a 9:23.03 to record the fastest time among NCAA West competitors. During the 2025 indoor season, Halladay-Lowry became a first-team All-American with a third-place finish at nationals. The steeplechase prelims are scheduled for 5:38 p.m. Thursday, June 12. Television coverage begins at 5 p.m. on ESPN. The finals are at 7:24 p.m. Saturday, June 14, with TV coverage beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
Maggie Liebich, Washington: A graduate transfer from Princeton, the Riverstone grad who competed for Boise High qualified 11th in the 3,000 steeplechase in 9:53.74. She was the No. 5 overall qualifier out of the West regional. She placed second at the Big Ten Championships in just the second steeplechase of her career. The steeplechase prelims are scheduled for 5:38 p.m. Thursday, June 12. Television coverage begins at 5 p.m. on ESPN. The finals are at 7:24 p.m. Saturday, June 14, with TV coverage beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
Rosina Machu, Gonzaga: The Boise High grad qualified 15th out of 24 competitors in the 10,000 with a time of 33:50.76. Now a junior, she earned second-team All-American honors last season with a 15th-place showing in the 10,000. The final is scheduled for 7:56 p.m. Thursday, June 12, with television coverage starting at 5 p.m. on ESPN.
Katja Pattis, Idaho: The native of Tiers, Italy, was the Big Sky runner-up in the 3,000 steeplechase. She qualified 23rd out of 24 participants in 10:02.04. The steeplechase prelims are scheduled for 5:38 p.m. Thursday, June 12. Television coverage begins at 5 p.m. on ESPN. The finals are at 7:24 p.m. Saturday, June 14, with TV coverage beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
Kaiya Robertson, Boise State: The junior from Portland, Oregon, secured the final qualifying spot in the 1,500 with a 12th-place finish in the West regional in 4:11.38. She’s the reigning Mountain West champion in the event. The 1,500 prelims are set for 5:21 p.m. Thursday, June 12, with broadcast coverage beginning at 5 p.m. on ESPN. The finals are at 7:11 p.m. Saturday, June 14, with event coverage starting at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
Megan Rose, Utah: The Capital High grad is a former state record holder in the 100 meters, and she’ll compete for the Utes in the 4x100 relay. Rose joins teammates Emily Martin, Bailey Kealamakia and Chelsea Amoah as the first Utah 4x100 relay to qualify for nationals in a school-record time of 43.85. Semifinals for the 4x100 begin at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, June 12, and television coverage starts at 5 p.m. on ESPN. The final is at 7:02 p.m. Saturday, June 14, with TV coverage beginning at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
MEN’S NATIONAL QUALIFIERS
Peyton Bair, Mississippi State: The Kimberly High graduate is the reigning indoor national champion in the heptathlon and qualified No. 2 for the outdoor decathlon with 8,111 points. Bair was the 2024 NCAA outdoor decathlon runner-up. The decathlon will be contested Wednesday, June 11 (100, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400), and Thursday, June 12 (110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1,500). The prime-time TV broadcast starts both days at 5 p.m. on ESPN. Individual event coverage can be found on ESPN+ throughout the day.
Nathan Green, Washington: He’ll try to close out his senior campaign with more accolades after becoming the 2025 NCAA indoor mile runner-up and the 2023 NCAA outdoor 1,500 champion. The Borah grad is the No. 20 qualifier out of 24 participants in the 1,500 with a time of 3:46.47. The 1,500 prelims begin at 5:21 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, with the ESPN broadcast scheduled to start at 5 p.m. The finals start at 6:12 p.m. Friday, June 13, with television coverage beginning at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
Logan Hammer, Utah State: The Columbia High alum broke his own meet record with a clearance of 18-5.25 to win the Mountain West title in the pole vault. Hammer is the No. 5 qualifier and has four of the nation’s top seven vaults this spring, according to The Herald Journal. The pole vault final will be contested at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, with complete coverage available on ESPN+.
Landon Helms, Boise State: The 2025 Mountain West decathlon champion earned direct qualification to the national championships with a score of 7,673, which ranks 18th out of 24 competitors. The Emmett High graduate previously competed for Texas A&M and is currently a junior. The decathlon will be contested Wednesday (100, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400) and Thursday (110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1,500). The prime-time TV broadcast starts both days at 5 p.m. on ESPN. Individual event coverage can be found on ESPN+ throughout the day.
Mason Lawyer, Washington State: The Boise High alum qualified in the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay for the Cougars, who broke a 35-year-old program record that stood since 1991 with a 39.09 finish in the 4x100 at the West regional. Lawyer also ran a wind-aided personal-best of 9.95 in the 100 (No. 6 qualifier) and a career-best 20.34 in the 200 (No. 22 qualifier). Prelims begin Wednesday, June 11, for the 4x100 (5:05 p.m.), 100 (6:25 p.m.) and 200 (7:29 p.m.), with broadcast coverage beginning at 5 p.m. on ESPN. Finals are set for Friday, June 13, in the 4x100 (6:02 p.m.), 100 (6:52 p.m.) and 200 (7:37 p.m.). Television coverage starts at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
James Onanubosi, Arizona: The Bishop Kelly High graduate will represent the Wildcats in the 4x100 relay at nationals for the third year in a row. Onanubosi, a junior, and teammates Brian Limage, Isaac Davis and Tyson Tippett clocked a 39.33 to qualify 23rd out of 24 teams. The 4x100 prelims are set for 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 (ESPN), and the finals are scheduled for 6:02 p.m. Friday, June 13 (ESPN2).
Kade Thompson, Utah Valley: Teaming with Gavin Stafford, Cameron Franklin and Gabe Remy, Thompson helped the Wolverines run a school-record 39.13 in the 4x100 to qualify 17th out of 24 teams. The Rocky Mountain High alum helped Utah Valley earn its first relay national berth. The 4x100 prelims are set for 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 (ESPN), and the finals are scheduled for 6:02 p.m. Friday, June 13 (ESPN2).
