Tickets to Fresno State-Boise State showdown can still be had, but they will be costly

The Fresno State Bulldogs’ game on Saturday against Boise State is sold out, but that doesn’t mean tickets to the big game can’t be had. For a price, of course.

The secondary ticket market isn’t going bonkers as it might for a Super Bowl or World Series game, but there is a considerable markup for some of the seats available inside Bulldog Stadium on ticket exchange and resale websites.

A seat in Section 20 in the north end zone, which was available for $27 two days ago before No. 25 Fresno State announced it had sold all 40,727 seats for a game for the first time since 2014, was going for $101 Thursday on one website.

A seat in Section 28, around the goal line on the east side of Bulldog Stadium, was going for $124 on another site. The price for a ticket in that section through Fresno State is $32.

The most expensive tickets available are in the prime sections between the 40-yard lines. One site had two seats in Section 10, between the 40 and 45 on the west side of the stadium, for sale for $300.

On the other side of Bulldog Stadium, a seat in Section 31 close to the 50-yard line was available for $170. One section over, in 32, there were tickets available for $133. Those seats usually go for $60 to $75.

The game could be worth the price of admission with the Bulldogs (7-2, 4-1 in the MW) in yet another must-win game to maintain their lead in the West Division of the conference and the Broncos (4-4, 2-2) trying to make a run in the Mountain Division and become bowl eligible.

Fresno State will go into the game with running back Ronnie Rivers and wideout Jalen Cropper both in the lineup, coming back from injuries. Rivers and Cropper both went through practice in full on Thursday, the Bulldogs working as usual inside Bulldog Stadium prior to a home game.

Rivers, the Bulldogs’ leading rusher, did not play in a victory at San Diego State last week after suffering an ankle injury against Nevada. Cropper, their leading receiver, went down in the third quarter of that victory over the Aztecs with a right knee injury.

Then of course, there is the rivalry. The last time these teams met was in the 2018 Mountain West championship game on the blue turf at Albertsons Stadium, a game the Bulldogs won 19-16 in overtime.

Boise State won seven in a row at one point including 61-10, 57-7 and 51-0 routs, but the teams have split the past four meetings including two for conference titles.
