Two Idaho youth teams will be chasing history this week in separate tournaments.

The East Boise 10U All-Stars qualified for the 2018 Babe Ruth Softball World Series, while Meridian Youth Baseball’s 12U squad is playing in the 2018 Cal Ripken Major 70 World Series.

East Boise opened pool play Monday, losing 15-0 in four innings to Manassas (Virginia) Cavalry at Pineapple Park in Jensen Beach, Florida.

East Boise plays again Tuesday at 11 a.m. Mountain Time against St. Charles Parish (Louisiana), and fans can follow a statistical broadcast of the game online at tourneymachine.com.

Pool play wraps up for East Boise with a pair of games at 7 a.m. (vs. Summit Point Pride from West Virginia) and 11 a.m. (vs. Pitt County from North Carolina) on Wednesday, and bracket competition begins Thursday.

East Boise qualified for the World Series by winning the Pacific Northwest Regional, outscoring their opponents 56-4.

Meridian Youth Baseball begins pool play in the Cal Ripken Major 70 World Series against New England at 11:30 a.m. MT Saturday at the Ballparks of America in Branson, Missouri. Meridian plays again at 9 a.m. Sunday (vs. Alabama) and 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, (vs. Middle Atlantic).

The top two teams from each of the six pools advance to the championship bracket, which starts Thursday. Games will be broadcast online at baberuthworldseries.website.siplay.com/watch.
