Boise Hawks can’t hold lead, drop series to Spokane Indians
Left fielder Jonathan Piron hit a two-run home run to give Boise a lead in the top of the ninth, but Spokane answered with two runs of its own, winning 7-6 on a walk-off single in Northwest League action Monday night.
Boise center fielder J.B. Moss drove in three runs, and Piron finished with two hits.
Boise jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Spokane rallied to tie the score with three runs in the seventh and added another run in the eighth to lead 5-4.
Piron put Boise up 6-5, but the Hawks couldn’t finish off the Indians.
Hawks starter Ryan Luna pitched six strong innings, scattering five hits and giving up one run.
