Idaho Outdoors briefs (Dec. 23): New fishing rules, seasons online
The new rules are available at fishandgame.idaho.gov. Printed versions of the rule books are expected to be available at license vendors this week, according to Idaho Fish and Game.
The new fishing rules will be in effect from Jan. 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2018.
Statewide changes include a new possession limit, which will be three times the daily bag limit after the second day of the season. Of note in the Southwest Region:
▪ A trout limit of two, none under 14 inches, on the Boise River from the downstream side of the East Park Center Bridge to the upstream side of the West Park Center Bridge.
▪ Elimination of the catch-and-release bass seasons at Oxbow and C. Ben Ross reservoirs. The daily bag limit of two bass, none between 12 and 16 inches, will apply year-round.
▪ A catch-and-release season for trout on the North Fork Payette River from Smiley Bridge to Payette Lake from Dec. 1 through the Friday before Memorial Day weekend.
▪ Lake trout are included in the daily trout bag limit of six at Payette Lake.
