Idaho is home to huge prehistoric sturgeon. Learn how to catch one in this hands-on class!
Have you ever wanted to tangle with a white sturgeon, the prehistoric giant of the Snake River? This native Idaho species is North America’s largest freshwater fish — capable of growing to more than 10 feet long — and we Idahoans are blessed to have a thriving population right in our backyard!
If you want to learn more about these unique giants, here is your chance. My next Tight Lines 208 fishing class will be a Sturgeon Seminar, set for June 13 and 15 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The first night will feature a fun classroom session at Idaho Rod & Reel in Nampa, where we will go over the gear, tackle, bait and strategies needed to catch sturgeon in the wild. On the second night, we will put our newfound knowledge to the test and go sturgeon fishing at a private lake in Parma, with all gear, bait and tackle provided.
This class is only offered every other year, and it fills up fast! For details and registration, visit www.tightlines208.com. I hope to see you there!
