Idaho anglers should watch for shifting water levels in Snake River, local reservoirs

Water levels at C.J. Strike Reservoir (pictured) and Swan Falls Reservoir will be fluctuating for much of November because of work being done by Idaho Power. Fishing access will remain open.

Local anglers might notice fluctuating water levels at several popular fisheries throughout the month of November, the result of work Idaho Power is doing at its Rippee Island project near Walters Ferry.

C.J. Strike Reservoir is being drawn down more than a foot. It is scheduled to refill by Nov. 19. Meanwhile, Swan Falls Reservoir is being drawn down up to three feet, also refilling by Nov. 19. As the reservoirs draw down, river flows will increase below C.J. Strike Dam and Swan Falls Dam. Both areas are popular with anglers targeting bass, crappie, sturgeon and more.

Fishing and access will remain open during the draw-down and refill process. Boaters are reminded to be careful of rocks and other low-water obstructions. For more information, including current water levels, visit www.idahopower.com/community-recreation/recreation/water-information.
