Saturday, Feb. 6

Junior Duck Stamp Art Day: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, 13751 Upper Embankment Road, Nampa. Young artists are given the opportunity to create and submit their own masterpiece to the Idaho Junior Duck Stamp art contest. Drop in any time to learn about Idaho waterfowl and create a contest entry. Supplies will be provided. Artwork must be submitted by March 15. Alpine tours (open to both skiers and riders) will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours on gentle to moderate (intermediate) terrain. Free, but you will need to have a Bogus Basin mountain or Nordic/snowshoe pass. 587-7961.

Tuesday, Feb. 9

Bogus Basin Snowshoe: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bogus Basin. Depart and return from Nampa Rec Center, 131 Constitution Way. Snowshoeing adventure, followed by a warm beverage at the Frontier Point Nordic Lodge. $20, includes transportation, trail pass, snowshoeing tour and beverage. Optional snowshoe rental is $10. Hagerman Valley Bird Festival: Hagerman will host birders in celebration of the many bird species who spend the winter in spring-fed Hagerman Valley. There will be workshops, field trips, screenings and more. Full schedule and registration at hagermanbirdfestival.com.

Golden Eagle Audubon Society Family Birding Walk: 1 to 3 p.m. at Barber Park, 4049 S. Eckert Road, Boise. Walk the trails along the river looking for geese, ducks and herons on the water, as well as songbirds in the brush and check the trees in the parking lot for owls. Saturday, March 5

Les Bois Film Festival: 6 p.m. at The Egyptian Theatre, 700 W. Main St., Boise. Features a diverse array of nature films from across the globe, as well as several local nature films shot in Idaho. $14 advance, $18 at the door, $5 students, free for children 13 and younger. lesboisfilmfestival.org.
