Spring steelhead season opens Jan. 1

The season runs through April 30 in most areas. On the Boise River upstream to Barber Dam, the season ends May 31. Anglers will need a 2016 fishing license and a steelhead permit.

Only hatchery fish, identified by a clipped adipose fin, may be kept. Except in the Boise River, anglers can use only barbless hooks. The statewide limit is three per day, nine in possession and 20 for the spring season.
