A mountain biker was transported from the Boise Foothills by air ambulance Sunday after crashing on a trail, according to Boise Fire Department officials.

In a post shared on Facebook, the Boise Fire Department said its technical rescue team assisted Ada County emergency responders in locating the mountain biker, providing medical care and getting her to the helicopter.

Boise Fire spokesperson Lynsey Amundson told the Idaho Statesman in an email that the department responded to a call around 2:45 p.m. made by another mountain biker who was with the woman who crashed. Amundson said the crash occurred on Hard Guy Trail, a nearly 5-mile route off of Boise Ridge Road north of the city.

The route, which connects to several other trails, is in Ridge to Rivers’ most difficult trail rating category, and the organization warns that it includes a “tough climb.”

Amundson said the mountain biker was taken to a local hospital with “significant injuries” from the crash. No other details were given.
