A 56-year-old Sun Valley man died due to a kayaking accident Monday, according to the Idaho County’s Sheriff’s Office.

James Grossman’s body was found near the Fall Creek area in Idaho, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

“His family has been notified, and our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time,” the sheriff’s office said.

On Monday the International Emergency Response Coordination Center, an emergency response system, received an SOS call from a Garmin inReach device that advised them a kayaker had died, the release said. The center relayed the information to the Idaho County Dispatch.

Fall Creek is an area not accessible by road, according to the release. Two Bear Air, a Northwest search and rescue company, was able to assist in retrieval.

“We wish to thank Two Bear Air for their response, and the owners of Mackay Bar Outfitters, Joni and Buck Dewey, for all their assistance,” the sheriff’s office said. “During times like these, we are fortunate to live in an area with so many people willing to volunteer their resources to help in an emergency.”
