Boise Fire, paramedics respond to two Foothills rescues, transport one to hospital

The Boise Fire Department and Ada County Paramedics responded to two separate Foothills rescues Friday, and one of the patients was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.

At approximately 2:20 p.m., Boise Fire responded to a call for a 16-year-old male experiencing medical problems along the Chickadee Ridge trails. The patient rode down on the back of a Boise Fire ATV to an ambulance waiting on 8th Street.

The teen was later taken to a medical facility by his parents, according to Char Jackson, Boise Fire public information officer.

Later in the evening, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Ada County Paramedics responded to a second rescue at Peggy’s trail, which is located off N. Cartwright Road, where a male in his 50s had crashed his mountain bike. The man had to be placed on a back board, and paramedics used a UTV to take the patient to an ambulance waiting at Polecat parking lot.

The patient was then transported to a local hospital.

As the weather warms up, the Boise Fire Department urges recreationists to remember to take water and always ride within your ability, Jackson said.
