Let’s be honest about anti-government protests in Idaho
Friends – conservative friends – we need to have an honest conversation.
Remember when the Black Lives Matter movement was building and we all told them to just obey the law enforcement officers and they wouldn’t get shot? Remember when we told everyone that it was Obama’s rhetoric and the Justice Department policies that led to the shooting of police officers? Many of us said that Black Lives Matter and groups like Antifa just wanted to destroy our government and their ultimate goal was anarchy. And we kept repeating that we’re a nation of laws and that no one is above the law.
Remember? But now it is apparently OK for so-called self-proclaimed conservative groups and pols to scream tyranny over our government taking precautions to prevent an overwhelming outbreak of a deadly virus. It’s OK for a state representative to compare our governor to Hitler, for the lieutenant governor to actually protest the governor’s order, along with her “militia” friends and for these “more conservative than anyone” reps and groups to tell all of their supporters that they are ready to take up arms if necessary to end the tyranny and oppression. All this talk, all this incendiary rhetoric while openly carrying arms without resistance from any government or law enforcement on the steps of the State Capitol from whence this tyranny is supposedly emanating.
Make no mistake about it, the people that showed up at the home of the Meridian police officer — his personal private residence where he and his family take refuge from the insanity of this world — do not support law enforcement, do not hold the Constitution above all else and do not just want to protect everyone’s freedom and liberty. It’s much deeper, much darker and much more sinister than that.
This is the very well- (and secretly) funded, extremely established anti-establishment at its finest. You know... the ones who hate the establishment but are actually more established than perhaps any group, including the two main political parties in our great state. This is the result of voters drinking the purple Kool-aid and believing that elected officials who score well with these groups are the true conservatives and that everyone else is out to get their freedom, their liberty, their guns. Because that’s what they tell us every day. That’s what the webcam warriors and keyboard captains love to repeat about anything and everything with which they disagree.
The overpaid chief protester at the mother ship foundation offered this half-baked milquetoast disclaimer to avoid actual ties to the protest while not actually alienating the protesters: “We do not condone or endorse actions against law enforcement officials at their homes, such as the one last night. We say that recognizing that some of our dear friends were there with the best of intentions.”
Read it closely: “at their homes,” “our dear friends,” “best of intentions...” Are you serious? Best of intentions to intimidate a law enforcement officer and his family at their personal residence? Folks, these are not the words of someone or a group who supports our law enforcement officers or even the rule of law itself. This is not about the first amendment or any amendment or even the Constitution. This is about a group of people so eaten with fear of the government, with so much angst toward anyone in uniform or who even operates in the normal spectrum of our American culture – the establishment they love to say – that they can’t even fully condemn a group of their “dear friends” for going to the personal residence of a law enforcement officer whose sworn duty is to support and defend the Constitution because he did his job, lawfully, legally and within the limits of the Constitution.
Forget that the trespasser he arrested was a staged protester herself. Just realize that this is full and undeniable proof that anyone, anywhere can be subject to their mob rule. Just disagree with them. Run against one of their puppets. Vote or lobby against one of their bills. Their dear friends might show up at your house with the “best of intentions.”
Look closely at the candidates right now. Many are touting their 90-plus compliance grade with the anti-establishment as their mark of success. Is this who you want representing you? Are these the people you want controlling your representatives? Because if they can claim all the glory of their foundation score, they must also accept complicity for the actions of those who worship the same. This is not conservatism. This is not patriotism. And more importantly it is not OK.
