Harvey letter: Dodd-Frank
Dodd-Frank legislation and the Durbin Amendment need to be repealed.
The Dodd-Frank legislation almost completely killed the community banks. Its crony-founded Durbin Amendment has deeply hurt consumers by driving up our banking fees, checking account fees and has not returned billions of dollars to consumers, as promised. It price-fixed the interchange fee from 44 cents to 21 cents. Retailers pocketed the difference they had to pay in fees ... atrocious cronyism.
Mind-boggling that the retailers kept that money. No apparent savings on merchandise was passed on to the the consumer. Dodd-Frank and Durbin are price-fixing. America was founded on free markets, the free enterprise system. Consumers will be the winners when the Durbin Amendment is repealed.
Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch, please vote to repeal Dodd-Frank Act and its horrible accomplice, the Durbin Amendment. Vote to give consumers their promised relief and return interchange fees to the free enterprise system.
