Trudeau letter: Commuted sentences

I see where President Obama has commuted another 214 sentences of criminals convicted of so-called “nonviolent drug crimes.” This brings his total to 562 commutations of drug dealers’ sentences.

I contend everybody in the drug trade, including the drug lords, dealers and users, share equally in the slaughter of the tens of thousands of innocent victims due to America’s insatiable thirst for illegal drugs. In Mexico alone the drug lords are responsible for the killing of an estimated 20,000 innocents annually. Drug distribution in the U.S. surely takes thousands of American lives as well. Not all drug dealers committed the murders, but without their role in the process those victims might still be alive. All parties to the drug trade have blood on their hands.

What’s the president’s solution to the drug problem? More rehab facilities and freeing drug dealers. As a former user himself, he seems to minimize the impact illegal drugs have on this country. At the same time, he is intent on disarming America and making felons out of law-abiding gun owners like myself. Wouldn’t that be a strange turn of events. I’ll be in prison and the drug dealers go free.
