Blessinger letter: Thank you
A huge thank you.
I would like to thank and also let the public know of the dedicated public servants that have been in Gem County — Sheriff Chuck Rolland and deputies, especially Steve Nebeker. Recently there was a lightning strike above Sage Hen Reservoir that set a fire. Volunteers Butch and Levi Biggers started to put a hand-dug fire line around the strike. They were quickly joined by Deputy Nebeker, who helped contain the fire until the U.S. smokejumpers arrived.
It is extremely important to control fires when they are small rather than let them grow to mega proportions. Also, two other aiding factors were that the area is presently being grazed by cattle and also the area had been logged a few years back.
Again, thanks to our public servants who do a good job but often receive negative coverage.
