Matthews letter: Syrian refugee

I wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed the article about Mrs. Albukaie from Syria (July 3).

It was refreshing to see positive press about a refugee, especially a woman from Syria.

We would all benefit from more stories like that, about refugees from everywhere.

In Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” the Ghost of Christmas Present warns Scrooge of two things: ignorance and want. He warned Scrooge to beware of both but especially of ignorance.

I think that is a very relevant warning. Ignorance breeds fear which breeds hate and leads to war, etc.

I wish Mrs. Albukaie all the best. It’s obvious she, like everyone else, wants to live in peace, harmony and safety for herself and her family.
