Silva letter: Old tough leaders

Sushi and bratwurst are good once in a while. I also find speaking Japanese and German too tough for my little mind. Not too long ago that is exactly what might have happened if we didn’t have tough leaders and generals like: Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, MacArthur and Patton protecting us from the enemy.

It was 70-plus years ago the United States was in the fight for its very life. If it wasn’t for the strong leadership, we would have succumbed to Hitler, Tojo and Mussolini.

Most people don’t remember the anxiety this country suffered during those trying years. Certainly, the young liberals have no clue how close we were from being overtaken by these enemies.

Today the powers to be are lost when it comes to a battle like we are having today with ISIS, or if you prefer, ISIL.

I have no intention of learning Arabic, reading the Koran and eating lamb the rest of my life. I much prefer our free way of life to live and let live and not be ruled by these nut jobs.

The only one to be a tough leader is Donald Trump.
