Ousley letter: Swiftwater RV Park

Our small campground, Swiftwater RV Park, held a Silent Auction & Vintage Trailer Social in early May of this year and raised $1,300 for training and recruitment of EMT and firefighting personnel in the city of White Bird.

The event occurred because a group of 30-plus vintage trailer guests return to Swiftwater RV Park frequently and they find solace in knowing emergency personnel are nearby. Additionally, they understand small communities need trained emergency personnel, and that education costs can be a burden for volunteers.

Consequently, we held this event and gave the funds to the city of White Bird specifically to help train and recruit emergency personnel. Over 60 items were donated by guests and community residents. Visitors and guests arrived from the Salmon River Canyon, Grangeville, the LC Valley, North Idaho and Southern Idaho, including the Treasure Valley, Washington and Oregon. The event was promoted on Facebook. All visitors were invited to tour the vintage trailers, which was a big draw and helped bring in bidders and auction items.

We were thrilled with the results and our guests were delighted with the very successful outcome.
