Bischoff letter: Destructive teenagers

Recent news of vandalism by teenagers disturbs me. Is destroying others’ property now a way to have a “fun” evening?

I hope the parents of the boys who set fire to the principal’s home and two vehicles in Payette and those in Mountain Home, whose sons did $50,000 damage to two schools, will get stiff fines and enjoy visiting their sons in prison. Something has to get their attention as to where their kids are roaming around at night and what they are up to. Or are they just glad to get them out of their house?

A recent graduate, 17, with a 15-year-old and 16-year-old in the car, was killed in a wreck at 5 a.m. What parent shouldn’t be concerned if their child is not home at 5 a.m.?

It’s time for many parents to teach their kids discipline and responsibility. Have rules to follow.

The Bible teaches: Bring up your children in the nuture and admonition of the Lord. Try it, you will save yourself a lot of heartache and grief.

It’s not your city’s job to help raise your kids. Please be responsible parents.

Lucille Bischoff, Payette
