A big thank you to Idaho Fish and Game Commissioners Mark Doerr and Will Naillon for listening to the sportsmen of Idaho in voting against big game hunting tags for auction and honoring the 1938 Citizens Initiative that created the commission as a way to insulate fish and wildlife management from politics. Gov. Butch Otter caved in to some powerful legislators and special interest groups and, in retribution, did not reappoint Doerr and Naillon. It is becoming more and more common for the governor and many of the legislators to ignore the will of the people and to kowtow to special interest groups. Idaho clearly needs more people like Doerr and Naillon to stand up for what is right and to call the governor and legislators out when they are clearly out of line. Now, it’s up to the voters in November to do their homework and vote for representatives who want to work for the benefit of all the people, not just the rich and powerful.
