Hedden-Nicely letter: Change Congress

Requesting a favor.

I keep hearing journalists talking about the presidential election as if whoever is elected would have the power to actually do anything? A president has some power, but she can’t wave a magic wand and poof — build a wall. The commentators and talking heads imply that whoever is elected president just rolls into Washington and kicks ass. What a joke. The House and Senate make all the laws and spend all the money — not the president.

If all the supporters of Trump, Bernie and Hillary really want to change Washington, skip the presidential circus and focus on the House and Senate races. That’s the blockage. For eight years the Congress has cut the taxes for the wealthy and pushed the cost on to the rest of us. No ideas or solutions — only long vacations. They are the laziest, most inept bunch of ungulates in the history of America, Sens. Crapo, Risch and Reps. Simpson, Labrador included. Our professional journalists are as inept and lazy as our Congress.

The favor I’m asking — help me remind our fellow citizens, if we want improvement, if we want anything to change then we absolutely must change Congress.

Andy Hedden-Nicely, Boise
