Davis letter: Yantis shooting
I’ve seen weeks turn into months since Jack Yantis was shot dead. The bull vs. car accident that turned into a rancher vs. deputy sheriff tragedy. I don’t know any of the people involved. My perspective is completely detached, other than what I watch and read about it. But it’s been six months since the terrible evening in Adams County. How does six months go by without the ISP shedding some light on what they know? How is this OK? It’s a very strange and sad story of how a 58-year-old rancher ended up dead and they won’t tell us anything. Lives are hanging in the balance. People’s jobs are at stake, names are at stake. Much emotion is yet to come. Meanwhile, the media continues to fuel the fire with continued coverage and speculation. Whoever is in charge of the investigation, finish up and make a statement.
The system that enables this incredibly slow action to bring an indictment or exonerate a person, or whatever… it’s a disgrace and a disservice to the parties involved. We all want you to get it right, but come on — six months? Somebody figure it out and tell us what happened.
