Shutt letter: Gas prices
Just for our general (the gas consumers of Idaho) edification, the big three gas barons of the Idaho gas supply are gouging the consumer again (you know who they are). Our state officials could care less, it seems (I guess they don’t pay for their gas products), since they will not step in to stop the unjustified price gouging/increases in the gas price. It should be obvious to even the most disinterested consumer that when prices were falling the big three gougers dropped the price a penny or two a week over six to 12 months. The price of oil by the barrel was around $40 and the price locally finally dropped to $1.89 a gallon or so. The price has gone up 60 cents in the last six weeks. The price for a barrel is still around $43. So if we do the math the price here will be about $8 to $20 a gallon when the price for a barrel gets back above $100. I’ll keep buying my gas at Flying J or Fred Meyer. They are trying to keep the price increases reasonable. The big three gougers, not a chance.
