Jones letter: Trump

Advice to Trump, Donald: Don’t waste your time attempting to unify career politicians who are owned lock, stock and barrel by their big-money donors.

You do have a legitimate opportunity to unite millions of poor Republicans, Democrats and Independents who have given up on a broken and corrupt political system. Most of these voters will unify behind the first presidential candidate who will actually listen to their long-silenced voices.

The vast majority of Americans aren’t demanding another Abraham Lincoln. They do expect their president to ignore extreme right-wing views on social issues and extreme left-wing cries for socialism. A new leader only needs to convince this silent majority he doesn’t have a trigger-happy foreign policy, can professionally manage the world’s largest economy and is moderate with an open mind on the nation’s most divisive issues.
