Magdlin letter: Neighborhood speeders
About a month ago I went to the Meridian Police to complain about cars exceeding the speed limit on Darrah Drive at various times of day. In their valiant effort they called the high school and to their credit it worked. Now if they knew where the other five or six speeders worked they could call their work to get them to slow it down, or they could patrol once or twice. I haven’t seen a patrol car yet. They must be too busy setting up the swap meet in their parking lot.
My neighbor called ACHD about speed bumps. ACHD put their traffic monitor between two driveways and before a left turn slows the average speed down. They counted 58 cars at peak time. ACHD policy is 100. So it is OK to speed in a neighborhood as long as you have cars making left turns and pulling in driveways to cancel out the ones that speed.
