Lichter letter: West Ada recall
We keep hearing about the West Ada Recall and the trustees who were voted in fair and square. What we don’t hear about is all who are behind the recall. We know Christine Donnell is. She should support Dr. Clark. She named a school after her. But what about others who financially support the recall? Our legislators are constantly undermining public education. Look at funding. Look at how public school teachers are compensated. Look at how many times legislators take money away from public education and put it towards for-profit charter schools. The Albertson Foundation’s “Don’t Fail Idaho” campaign is to promote charters and for-profit education. It’s a marketing ploy to make more charter schools so they can make more money. If legislators could control who is on school boards, privatizing public schools would become much easier.
It’s ironic that the same people who supported the old board of trustees giving Dr. Clark another year on her contract before their terms were over, are the same ones who think President Obama should let the next president select Supreme Court judge.
I think Bill Roberts should investigate to see if any legislators have put money into the recall.
