The issue surrounding the horse industry and gaming is not along party lines as legislators on both side of the isle have received payola from the Tribes for their support. Some of them sit on the Senate State Affairs Committee under the thumb of Sen. Brent Hill.
The Horse industry certainly was crushed by the State Lottery and nothing was done to fix that. The amount the industry asked for is tiny when compared to the lottery and unlike the lottery stimulates and grows the economy of the state and small communities. Our legislators need to find a way forward for the horse industry and all the positive it creates for our state, its youth and our citizens.
