Landers letter: Divided America

I see so much division in America and young children who are in pain because their stomachs hurt from hunger and homelessness, among civilians and vets and families reduced to poverty for a lack of jobs and most of all children who are caught in a crossfire of bullets and the parents grieve because it is never ending.

I see overcrowded jails because of more laws instead of enforcing the ones we have and a shortage of nurses and doctors who are needed because there are more people, and the hospitals are overwhelmed because they can’t keep up with the pace of patients coming in. I see more diseases and wars brewing, yet we have cut our military and we can’t seem to win the battle against diseases because there is a lack of funds, and we lack better resources.

We used to have the best of everything and we worked together and resolved our issues, but now we are getting buried under a heap of debt because we have refused to balance what is broken, yet we have the best minds and we are letting them waste away. That is sad.
