Toothaker letter: Elected officials’ behavior

I am so incredibly sad. We as a society demand that our professional athletes behave well, and be polite, civil and respectful, because they are “role models” for our children.

Should we not expect the same standard of our elected officials?

Meeting with a Supreme Court nominee and having hearings, having a Senate vote does not assure a positive vote.

Refusing to allow the Senate to follow procedures is simply not polite, civil or respectful.

We as a society — me, as a grandmother — cannot demand politeness and civility of children and teenagers when our leaders behave this way.
