Ross letter: Legislature
I’m new to Idaho, so I’m trying to learn about the Legislature. It looks to me like the Legislature, under Republican control, has so far told cities and counties they can’t pass plastic bag or minimum wage ordinances. Local control?
A for-profit medical school was quickly approved and even got some tax incentives. A tax break was given to upper-income individuals and businesses, thus lowering the amount of money available for schools, roads and health care. Funding for education might get back to 2009 levels. That’s progress? Of course most of these elected officials want to finish quickly so they can begin campaigning for re-election to a job that does little to help the people of Idaho. Do I have this about right?
