McGourty letter: Medical care

Last weeka story about Idaho and an elderly woman told of three generations of children buried in a cemetery. Some believe they died because their parents did not provide them medical care. Instead they just prayed.

In Idaho there is a law on the books that calls this freedom of religion. In Idaho we provide medical care for convicted murderers. This is not a freedom; this is a travesty of justice for innocent children. Shame on you, Legislature, for allowing this law to stay on the books.

I am a great grandmother, and I studied the Old Testament and the New Testament and Jesus said, “Love one another.” He didn’t say stand by and do nothing when your children are sick. Sometimes I’m embarrassed to be an Idahoan.
