Trudeau letter: Public lands

I’ve had the right to vote for almost 50 years and don’t recall ever voting for a Democrat. I’d relinquish my right to vote, however, if my only choice was a Republican who proposes the transfer of federal lands to state control. There’s no doubt in my mind that such a transfer is just an interim step before turning over control of our public lands to the good old boys who graze, log and mine. There can be no other motivation for such a proposal.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a strong supporter of free enterprise, but that doesn’t mean our public lands have to be made sacrificial lambs at the altar of industry. Free enterprise is the servant, not the master. Our public lands belong to all of us and are the envy of the states that aren’t so fortunate. Let’s keep it that way.
